Sugar Land Town Square

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rock

Recycling Collection Event – 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
(located in the parking lot adjacent to City Hall)

  • Eagle Electronic Resources will be on-hand to collect household electronics such as TVs, VCRs, stereos, computers, printers, keyboards, scanners, cell phones, digital cameras, pagers and PDAs for recycling and reuse. Both working and non-working electronic equipment will be accepted free of charge from Sugar Land residents, and each resident participating in the electronics recycling event will be entered into a drawing for a FREE 42-inch TV.
  • The Fort Bend County Women's Center will be in attendance to accept donations of clothing and household items for resale at the Fort Bend County Women's Center PennyWise Resale locations. The revenue from the sale of these donations will assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Fort Bend Seniors will also be on-hand to collect gently used items such as small electric appliances, bed linens, towels, blankets, and small tools for Fort Bend County senior citizens.
  • Residents will also have the opportunity to bring their paper and media discs (CDs, DVDs, and floppy discs) for shredding by On-Site Shred, a document destruction company. Upon conclusion of the event, the shredded material will be recycled.

MYAC Environmental Activity Booths: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) selected an environmentally themed service project this program year, and the organization has partnered with the City to host a series of environmental activity booths on the Plaza at Town Square during the performance by Vocal Trash. These activities will include face painting, arts and crafts, and a recycling game.

Performance by Vocal Trash: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The City of Sugar Land and Keep Sugar Land Beautiful have partnered with Sugar Land Town Square and Republic Services to host a performance by Vocal Trash, a Texas-based group known for their unique combination of music, dance and comedy while utilizing recycled materials such as a gas can guitar and milk urn bass. The group has traveled all over the world performing at Earth Day events and state fairs, as well as private events for Corporations such as American Airlines and Cingular Wireless. Their performance appeals to all ages and will be a valuable addition to the Earth Day activities.
