Trees Across Sugar Land
6:00am - 6:00pm
Trees Across Sugar Land is a fantastic opportunity for you to enjoy a crisp January morning in beautiful Sugar Land Memorial Park planting native saplings. All ages are welcome and are encouraged to participate. Trees Across Sugar Land was started in 2007 by Keep Sugar Land Beautiful in partnership with the City of Sugar Land to reforest Sugar Land Memorial Park.
Our first year over 200 volunteers planted 5,000 native saplings. In 2008, 437 volunteers planted 10,000 saplings donated by the Apache Foundation. Our project grew considerably in 2009, when the Apache Foundation, a charitable unit of Houston-based Apache Corporation, generously donated 20,000 saplings that were planted by over 700 volunteers. In addition, Minute Maid Sugar Land donated 320 five gallon trees that were planted this year – one tree for each Minute Maid employee that will be working in Sugar Land.
KSLB would like to thank Minute Maid, Huitt-Zollars, and Native Land Design for their 2009 sponsorship. We would like to also thank The Apache Foundation, NALCO, Lowe’s, Minute Maid, Randalls, H-E-B, Kroger, and Wal Mart for their in kind donations.
