BOPA Collection Event

1400 University Blvd., Sugar Land (University of Houston Sugar Land campus parking lot)

Keep Sugar Land Beautiful, the City of Sugar Land, and Fort Bend County are holding a Batteries, motor Oil, LATEX Paint, and Antifreeze (BOPA) collection event on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University of Houston Sugar Land Campus parking lot. Sponsorships and donations will be accepted to offset the cost of disposal.

The event will be open to all Sugar Land residents. A valid Texas driver's license or other proof of residency will be required. Volunteers and staff from Keep Sugar Land Beautiful, the City of Sugar Land, Fort Bend County, NALCO, Flex Oil Services, and O'Reilly Auto Parts will be on hand to collect the BOPA materials. Sponsorship opportunities available.

ACCEPTED: Residential waste only (rechargeable household & automobile batteries, motor oil and filters, LATEX paint, and antifreeze) will be accepted at the BOPA collection event.
NOT ACCEPTED: Business, medical, and agricultural waste will NOT be accepted. Oil-based paints, solvents, flammables, pesticides, herbicides and other similar hazardous materials will NOT be accepted at this event.

The Fort Bend County Recycle Center, located at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg, is open year-round and accepts BOPA materials, household hazardous waste, electronics, appliances and recyclables. Fees may apply for some items. Household hazardous waste is accepted only on designated days. For more information or hours of operation, please call 281-633-7527.

Trees Across Sugar Land

Sugar Land Memorial Park

Keep Sugar Land Beautiful and the City of Sugar Land invite you to join us on January 31 for our Trees Across Sugar Land Celebration. Please help us plant 20,000 saplings in Sugar Land Memorial Park as we continue our reforestation project! We have planted 15,000 saplings in the last two years with the help of 637 volunteers from two to eighty five years old. Please make plans to join us. Free saplings will be given to participants. Proper tree care techniques and tree trimming education will be provided. The park is located at the intersection of University and Commonwealth Boulevard. Please register in advance to participate.
