The Texas Stream Team is a network of trained volunteers and supportive partners working together to gather information about the natural resources of Texas. Originally developed in 1991 as Texas Watch, the Texas Stream Team is administered as a cooperative partnership between Texas State University, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The City of Sugar Land and Keep Sugar Land Beautiful have partnered to form a Sugar Land Texas Stream Team in order to learn more about our local resources. Volunteers must complete nine hours of training to become a certified water quality monitor. Volunteers agree to monitor a site designated by the City once a month at approximately the same time of day for a period of two years. Water quality monitoring may be done individually or in a group. Volunteers under age 18 must complete training and collect water quality data with a trained adult.
